POEMS - 2016 - The Final Show

THE FINAL SHOW

Sennacherib, Sennacherib,

Where are your brothers now?

They sell your soul for pittance,

Nineveh’s golden cow.

Jonah fled on a stormy sea,

Tossed from stern to bow,

He’d rather save a dying leaf,

Than save your furled brow.

Hezekiah would not have you,

Isaiah shunned your fame,

Yahweh put a hook in your nose,

Your sons cut off your name.

Your cisterns drew from mountains,

Your gardens drew acclaim,

But all has withered in the sand,

Your kingdom up in flame.

You pounced on broken people,

You served the pagan heart,

You danced with good and evil,

Not telling them apart.

The jewel of the Tigris,

Cut from Eden’s heart,

Yet consumed by canker worms,

From the very start.

God saved you once … Will He do it again?

Will He teach you how to flow?

Will He catch you as the curtain drops,

Upon the final show?

2 Kings 19:28 (KJV)

Because thy rage against Me and thy tumult is come up into Mine ears, therefore I will put My hook in thy nose, and My bridle in they lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

Down in the valley on a teeny-weeny boat,

Tossed in a tempest on a rinky-dinky float,

Puffing and pulling on an itsy-bitsy rope,

While Jesus slept ... they lost all hope.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
