POEMS - 2017 - Trembling

Column

TREMBLING

A sudden trembling,
Beneath the assembling,
Will tumble block from block,
Hallways empty,
On four and twenty,
No hands to wind the clock.

There’s nothing stirring,
And no one luring,
High up on the rock,
A vacant rising,
I’m surmising,
Will silence them with a shock.

But then the clamour,
Will make them stammer,
“Who shall guide the flock?”
And as they scramble,
Over the bramble,
Who will walk the talk?

Psalm 104:32 (KJV)

He looks on the earth, and it trembles: He touches the hills, and they smoke.
